Mumbai busted with colors.....

Updated: Feb 1, 2023

Mumbai the city of lights is ready to be crafty in 2023...

ST+Art India launch its Mumbai art project early this month with the Sassoon Dock Urban Art Fest that is an experiential exhibition with site-specific art installations, mural and audio-visual screenings and talks.

Colaba the southern-western tip of Mumbai is soaked in the complexities of the sea and the city. Contemporary art may not your cup of tea but you are bound to get lost in the lines and the lights of it. ST+ART India did an expectational job by explaining it to the common man with their short notes in every art room which helped them to develop a deeper appreciation of the installations.

The fest not only brings out the art from formal setting to the streets but also sets an unlikely olfactory experience for the visitors which makes them 'follow the smell,' yes you read it correct.

The fishy odour of the Sassoon docks must have been overwhelming for most of us, but by keeping a huge quirky board of "Follow the smell" made it part of the event.

The art in the fest was pulled out by 60 local and international artists. All following one theme - to emote. Curated with the purpose to tell the viewers about themselves, about the independence, magic and tragic beauty of human fears, the toxic relationship between them and the environment, especially with water. There were many notable artworks which left people's eyes wide open. Sakshi Gupta's Scrap iron and glass bed depiction was one of the highlights she pushed the boundaries between art and life by juxtaposing materials in unexpected ways. The Pipes and leaks by Sajid Wajid Shaikh and Ronak Soni also took viewers to an interesting audio-visual experience. Rero's French art leaves a lasting impression, where the water speaks.

Also, you should not limit yourself to the Sassoon dock because the event is also set to take place at other locations in the city including The AP Art House Colaba, Mahim East Art District, Carter Road in Bandra and many more.

So all my aesthete keep your comfortable shoes ready...coz it's time to revel in art with ST+ART and Asian Paints.
